The idea of Super Gigantic Garage Sale, indoor garage sales, originated during a conversation between two friends, Valerie Ballantine and Tina Hoch. Valerie had recently moved her family of five from their home of eight years and had accumulated a large collection of items she didn’t want to just give away. She realized the value of the items and wanted to sell them, but lived in a community where garage sales were not permitted.
The toils of hosting a garage sale
Valerie mentioned this to Tina, who had been an avid garage sale seller. Tina talked about the hassles of hosting one in your own driveway, even where it was permitted. The set-up wasn’t so bad, but then you contended with the weather – would you be sitting in the hot sun or damp rain all day? Even if you did luck out with the weather, where, how, and when do you advertise in the hopes of getting buyers to stop by? Then, at the end of a long day, you usually have a few items you’re stuck with disposing of or driving to a donation site. “Necessity is the mother of invention” – English proverb
The two friends spoke about how nice it would be to have a place where people could go once or twice a year to sell their household items and make some extra cash. How great would it be if they didn’t have to worry about the items that did not sell! Valerie and Tina decided they would start an indoor garage sale to take the hassle and uncertainty out of the process. “We could sell everything!”, said Val. “Except for the garage!”, joked Tina. The concept was born! At Everything but the Garage and Super Gigantic Garage Sale, you bring your items to our indoor, climate-controlled venue, you set up your booth & collect your money and we do the rest! We cover the cost of advertising to bring in a large number of buyers and provide a nonprofit organization to offload those unsold items (donations are tax-deductible!).
It could not be easier to sell your stuff and make some extra cash than at Super Gigantic Garage Sale!
